Danum Eagles U18s netted back-to-back wins to set up a title showdown with Killamarsh Arrows this weekend.
Eagles will win the North East Conference if they avoid defeat to the Arrows on Sunday.
They currently lead the table with a one hundred per cent winning record and two games of the regular season remaining.
Danum’s final home game of the normal season saw them run out comfortable 89-48 winners over bottom of the table Ilkeston on Saturday.
Eagles’ young guns got a taste of the action, with Sonny Singh, Danial Eddy and Evan Pugh impressing for the hosts.
Sunday’s trip to third placed Gateshead Phoenix proved to be a significantly tougher test, with both sides going toe-to-toe before a strong second half performance saw the Eagles dominate and pull away to win 85-60.
Man of the match Paul Aleknavicius was picked out by Danum’s coaches as a key player, doing a vital defensive job on Gateshead’s prolific point guard.
Liam Knapp and George Darling led the point scoring, both netting 24.
Eagles travel to Killamarsh this weekend before their final game at QE York Knights.
Danum’s Women, meanwhile, picked up a confidence boosting 55-42 win at home to Sunderland.
“The girls showed what a little more confidence can do in future games,” said head coach Bob Martin.
“We don’t believe in ourselves yet but it will come.”
