Doncaster Mustangs lost their opening BAFA league clash at Edinburgh Wolves 27-15 but took plenty of positives from the performance.

Experienced quarter back Graham Lightfoot and a Wolves player were dismissed in the second quarter following a brawl.

Ainsley Cawley scored two touchdowns, including a 35-yard grab, but Wolves were rewarded for their ability to convert big plays.

Mustangs head coach Paul Weston said: “We’re annoyed. Not at the fact that we lost, because Edinburgh deserved the win, but because we feel we played well and maybe missed an opportunity to grab an upset.”

Mustangs welcome Gateshead Senators to the Keepmoat Stadium for their first home game of the season on Sunday, April 26.
