All that glitters is gold for Max

DONCASTER Dartes’ Max Litchfield left rivals trailing in his wake in the recent North East Regional Shortcourse Championships, winning senior gold in all six events he contested.

He also grabbed his first ever Senior Yorkshire record in the 400m IM, which had stood since 1998.

Junior Oliver Richardson (Edlington) won gold in the 200m breaststroke.

Shannon Dodson (Adwick) won silver in her favourite event, the 100m backstroke, and three bronze medals: two for the 200m version of the same event (both junior and senior) and another for 100m butterfly.

She also smashed three Dartes age-group records over the weekend: 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and 200m backstroke (the latter also the women’s record).

Georgia Wright knocked two seconds off her 100m backstroke time to dip 0.05sec below National Qualifying time in only her second year. The swim also places her second on the 14 year-old top performers list at Dartes. She then went out and snatched the Dartes age-group record in the 50m sprint on her way to the bronze medal.

George Scatchard won a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke. Caitlin Dixon, who finished fifth in the 800m freestyle, and sixth in the 400m individual medley, also smashed four club records over the weekend in the 15-year 400m freestyle, 400m individual medley also the 15-year girls and womens 800m freestyle.

Last year’s ‘one to watch’ Alex Pollard (Armthorpe) won gold in all eight of his events in the age-group championships. He also smashed the 13 year old boys 1,500m club record and also posted a 400m Individual medley National qualifying time.

Joe Litchfield won four golds in the 200m butterfly, 100m and 200m backstroke and 400m Individual medley. He also won silver medals in the 100m butterfly and 200m Individual medley events and a bronze in 100m breaststroke.

Jarvis Parkinson grabbed a gold in the 200m Individual medley and silver medals in the 100m breaststroke and 100m, 200m, 400m freestyle. He also recorded a NQT in the 400m freestyle.

Laura Brookes struck gold in the 200m butterfly and silvers in the 100m, 200m freestyle and 400m IM. She also won bronze in 400m freestyle. Joe Gatus won a silver medal in the 100m backstroke.

A couple of the club’s younger swimmers also grabbed medals, Gill Clarke won bronze medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke with Robbie Casson winning a gold medal in the 100m backstroke and a silver in the 200m of the same event.
