'You have to earn it' - Why luck won't do for Doncaster Rovers as Darren Moore looks to get them back on track

Darren Moore insists Doncaster Rovers cannot hope for the ball to go in off someone’s backside and instead must earn a much-needed victory themselves.

Rovers slumped to a 2-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon after leading and dominating the first half at Kingsmeadow. It ensured they have won just one in nine in all competitions.

And manager Moore is not looking for a stroke of luck to jolt his side out of their current disappointing run.

“When I look back at the period of games and analyse them in terms of where it’s been at, I just think it’s been a large part of us not capitalising on our chances and taking our chances and not staying concentrated for the full 90 minutes,” he said.

“But you cannot cry over spilt milk. We’ll get back to the training pitch and you keep working and finding ways and means.

“At the moment it feels like we need something or some sort of rub of the green that gets us that win and get back out there to start going again.

“But you’ve got to find it, you’ve got to get it and you’ve got to earn it.

“I’m not one of those who believes it’s going to ricochet or go in off and you’re going to get a scrappy, lucky win.

“I’m a firm believer in you’ve got to go and earn it.

“We’ll certainly do that. We’ll go again, work again this week and see if we can get it in the next home game against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.”
