Moore made just one change for Sunday’s defeat to Sunderland - the second game in three days.

And he admits he may be forced to make more sweeping alterations to his starting XI after two energy-sapping fixtures.

He said: “Sometimes you just focus on the game and after that finishes you look at the parameters of the next one.

“Because of the level of the games you have to look at the squad with the condition of the players in it.

“That is where the squad comes into it now. We’ll take into consideration that it is the third game in seven days and we’ve had two tough games with Peterborough and Sunderland.

“We’ll look at the squad on the eve of the Oxford game and if we need to make changes and I see fit, we’ll make changes.”

Cameron John is one player who could miss out on New Years Day having suffered a hamstring strain which forced him off against Sunderland.

Moore says he will also address whether any players are suffering mental fatigue following the intense festive period.

“We’ve got a quick turnaround now and the beautiful thing is that we’ve got another game in 48 hours where the only thing I’m looking at is the physicality and the mental state of the players to go again,” he said.

“The focus and the detail goes into the Oxford game.

“We draw the positives from the Peterborough game and there were positives from the Sunderland game as well where if we’d have been a bit more savvy and clinical in areas we could have got onto the final ball and got the equaliser.”
