A period without midweek matches presented the Rovers boss with the chance to spend quality time on the training ground with which to carry out the work with his players that he puts a tremendous amount of stock into.

And he says it has given him and his staff the opportunity to work with players both individually and collectively on all manner of areas of the game.

“It’s been both aspects of the game - in and out of possession,” Moore said.

“It has presented an opportunity for us to really scrutinise things and bed down, shut down and try to make it better.

“There’s aspects of the game from attacking and defending points of view. There’s work the players are doing individually, there’s work they are doing collectively as a group.

“Having a full week presents us with Monday, Tuesday, they have Wednesday off, and then Thursday and Friday to really work in terms of principles.”

Moore says the time on the training ground has been particularly important for the four players who signed in January.

“We have had four new players come in and now they get chance to work,” he said.

“When the transfer window closed we had five games in two weeks. We’ve been pinching time.

“Now with the weeks we get to really work and get some messages into them that we;ve been putting into the other players all season.

“They get to work on it.”
