A Dave Edwards header 14 minutes from the end condemned Darren Moore’s side to defeat – leaving them still in 11th place, but six points outside the League One play-off spots.

Here’s what Rovers fans on Twitter had to say about events at the Montogomery Waters Meadow Stadium.

@Rupee92 Darren Moore shows glimpses of being a good coach often enough to be excited BUT... His constant rotation is killing us. He’s the reason we are so inconsistent. Hokey Cokey management style needs to change! (This isn’t a manager out tweet) #drfc

@daniel_nice7 Today was a pretty good summary of the season so far: could easily have nicked it, looked to be heading for a draw, but instead they nicked it.

The games at Bristol Rovers, Sunderland and today were all the same. W1, D1, L1. It’s fine margins #drfc

@J_BELLAMY_19 Shrewsbury haven’t won since mid-December. Of course they turned us over. Poor all the way through the game and got out battled by a side fighting. “We go again next week...” #drfc

@JohnP5269 Well we lost 1-0 in a quite appalling game. It was raining and freezing cold and we’ve now got a two and a half hour journey home. Still, give me this over a Sky subscription, sitting in an armchair whilst wearing a replica shirt #drfc

@josh_dainty The difference between this year’s team and last year’s is huge. Last year we had a cutting edge and killed teams off more with a clinical finesse. Now it’s all “yeah we lost, but we’re good at passing” or “yeah we lost but we had 99% possession.” Not good enough. #DRFC

@joycie01 I actually can't believe that some of our lot thought we'd reach the play-offs after the pre-season we had! #drfc

@SincerelyMe0101 Very poor result today and the end of our play-off hopes I fear. Need to be beating the likes of Shrewsbury really. Weekend ruined. #DRFC

@JohnLeslieCoyl1 I think we can write off the play offs now and start thinking about next season.
