Rovers won four games out of five - keeping a clean sheet in each - before suffering defeat to on-form Coventry City at the weekend.

It came after a tough period, during which decent performances were not converted into wins or Rovers struggled to reach their early season standards.

Full back Halliday believes the excellent form of the post-Christmas period has lifted confidence again in the Rovers camp and expects the squad to easily shake off the disappointment of last weekend.

“It just picked our spirits up,” Halliday said.

“We know we’re a good team and are hopefully challenging for play-offs at least this season.

“For us to get the good results under our belt, we know we can do it.

“We’re a match for any team in the league and we just need to go on another run like we did in the previous five games.”

Halliday feels Rovers are now fully versed in the style boss Darren Moore has sought to implement in his side.

He said: “That is the gaffer’s way of playing and he stamped his authority when he came in and showed us the type of football he wants to play. I think we’re all doing that.

“At the start of the season we started well, hit a few sticky results and I think we’ve got back to it now and we’ll start picking up a few good results.”
