Doncaster Rovers legend James Coppinger was left with some explaining to do after his Toilet Roll Challenge attempt went wrong.

Footballers across the world have been spending their social distancing time challenging each other to play keepy uppy with a toilet roll – one of the most sought after items for panic buyers during the coronavirus pandemic – and share videos on social media of them doing so.

It all started well for Rovers’ record appearance maker, who showed the good close control and skill that supporters have been accustomed to seeing over his 16 years at the club.

But as he attempted to finish with a flourish and volley the roll over to his son, Coppinger went uncharacteristically off course.

All that could be heard was a smashing noise as the shocked 39-year-old put his hand over his mouth.

He tagged the video with a plea to Rovers: “Get me back to training ASAP.”
