Update on Doncaster Rovers manager search as first round of interviews is completed
Doncaster Rovers have whittled down the candidates for the manager’s job to three after the first round of interviews was completed on Monday.
The successful trio will go ahead to the final stage of interviews on Thursday with an appointment to be made as soon as possible afterwards.
The Rovers board have been thoroughly impressed with the performance of the three candidates and, at this stage, feel any would make an excellent appointment.
Two of the early front-runners for the role remain under consideration while the third candidate is said to be more of a left-field choice, albeit one that was incredibly impressive during his interview.
One candidate has not been listed on the betting market throughout the process.
Two are currently out of work with the other employed within the Football League.
The three candidates have already completed their psychometric testing which will allow talks over terms to begin as soon as the second stage of interviews has been completed.
A total of five candidates were interviewed at the first round stage with two of those that had been shortlisted - both currently employed - electing to withdraw from consideration, while Andy Butler was given a less formal interview with the board.
