SOUTH Axholme’s Under 15 football team remain unbeaten all year and are now half way through their journey in the ESFA Under 15 cup.
The national cup starts with over 600 secondary schools from around England and the Epworth facility safely made it through to Round 5 after last Thursday’s 4-0 win, away at Robert Pattinson School from Lincoln.
South Axholme had already beaten Goole High School, Campsmount School and Don Valley School but were facing a tough test against last year’s Lincolnshire Cup Finalists.
On a difficult surface South Axholme got off to the perfect start with Scunthorpe United’s Harry Scott smashing in a fantastic opener from an acute angle. This seemed to inspire Robert Pattinson School who put the Isle boys under lots of pressure. The boys managed to get to half time 1-0 to the good. A couple of minutes into the second half Ryan Maw missed a glorious chance to make it two. However, after a fantastic defensive header from the inspirational Kyle Wooton and wonderful lay off by Ryan Maw, Bryan Ogley scored with a neat left foot finish.
The back four were outstanding all afternoon and South Axholme always looked dangerous on the break. South Axholme made it three when Stuart Beevers running from the halfway line to join in for the corner, continued his run and met the corner with a thumping header.
Substitute Jordan Hazell made it 4-0 with a neat finish. The boys await the draw for Round 5.
