The Rovers hierarchy first used their recruitment matrix in the build-up to the appointment of Darren Ferguson as manager in October 2015.

It has since been refined in the processes which led to Grant McCann and Darren Moore being handed the job in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Rovers have received a raft of applications since publishing the advert for the job at 5pm on Monday.

Dozens of coaches had expressed interest in the role in the aftermath of Moore’s departure to Sheffield Wednesday last month.
