Daniels has seen three penalties awarded against him in his last four league appearances for Rovers and admits he has made errors along the way. But he insists he will not alter his approach to defending, even if he is determined to cut out the mistakes.

“There’s no bigger critic of Donervon Daniels than Donervon Daniels,” he said. “And as I have promised myself, I will correct that.

“I will continue to be strong, aggressive and confident on the ball and be part of this team and contribute in the best way I can for this team. If it is me going out on that pitch and having to make a tackle, put my body on the line, make a pass or put my head where it hurts, I will continue to do that because that is who I am as an individual and that is my job.” The Luton Town loanee demonstrated real honesty as he reflected on the penalties conceded against Burton Albion, Wycombe Wanderers and, most recently, AFC Wimbledon.

He said: “I’m an aggressive, forward-moving defender. My qualities don’t lie in the areas of conceding space. The first one was against Burton, it was a tough one because the ball came to me in a position I wasn’t expecting it. But I could have moved my feet. That was maybe through a lack of awareness.“The one at Wycombe was through trying to do the right thing, trying to head the ball. At Wimbledon. going to ground was not what was required. It’s been assessed and spoken about and highlighted.”
