Taylor Richards lifts the lid on strong half time words during Doncaster Rovers' chalk and cheese clash with Blackpool

Darren Moore is not known for his half time rollickings so hearing that strong words were said during the break of Doncaster Rovers’ clash with Blackpool says plenty about his thoughts on the performance.

Moore himself hinted at the fact he had given his players a stern talking to after a poor first half in which they fell two goals down.

It appeared to pay off, along with some tactical tweaks, as Rovers roared back to win 3-2 with a much improved second half showing.

Half time substitute Taylor Richards was spared much of the words of Moore and assistant Jamie Smith but said the tone was not what he has come to expect during his short time at the club.

“His words helped us a lot to get us going,” Richards said.

“I feel like it was needed. Look at the second half performance from us.

“The words he said, it helped us a lot to go out and put the performance in that we did.

“I wasn’t in for the whole thing but he said we can go out and win the game, both him and Sivvy.”

Richards played a big role in changing the balance of the game in the second half and admitted he was itching to get on the pitch during the opening 45 minutes.

“You never want to be on the bench but it’s just what it is,” he said.

“You’re thinking I could do this or when I get on I can try this.

“It’s easier said than done when you’re watching the game.

“When I got on I just tried to get on and do my best.”
