Rovers have won just one of their last nine matches and are winless in four in the league.

Captain Whiteman does not believe the run of results is too much of a worry but concedes it is not good enough for the standards they set.

“I wouldn’t say it was a concern,” he said.

“From our point of view it’s not been good enough, there is no hiding that.

“But in terms of the performances, we’re still creating chances.

“If that is not happening then it starts to become a worry.

“We’re the second highest chance creating team in the league and that’s with having played three less games than other teams.

“I don’t think it’s a worry.

"I think if you look at the games we’ve lost it's been individual errors.”

Following Saturday’s defeat at AFC Wimbledon, Whiteman says the major message in training has been about maintaining high standards with individual mistakes proving costly in recent weeks.

“The manager has said it about standards and I’m big on it myself – all of us are to be fair,” he said.

“We treat every day like it’s going to be a game and if you do that then you won’t go far wrong.

“I think leading up to the game last week we were at it and I think you could see that in the first half.

“We should have been 4-0 up and that’s no exaggeration. I should have scored and others should have.

“In the second half it was just decision-making again. It’s cost us and you can’t really do much about that.

“You can plan all you want in the week but if individual mistakes keep happening it’s going to cost you.”
