Here we take a look at some of the social media reaction to the loss.

@JohnLeslieCoyl1: Typical Donny. Beat Lincoln and Oxford who were in form but lose to out-of-form Fleetwood. Two thoughts- maybe changing two out of three midfielders went too far, and losing Big Tom was a huge blow.

@CraigWa77179445: We’ve been lucky to get out of Lincoln and Oxford with 6 points, could see the cracks starting then, as soon a Tom went off the team seemed to deplete for some reason, onto the next one rovers onwards and upwards

@alanjones142: Shocking performance riddled with mistakes and lack of team work and effort. Not very often we can say that!

@NatalieHinchcl3: Awful tonight, couldn't string a few passes together, poor goals conceded but we move on, you can't win them all.RTID

@AdDaws: Poor performance on a freezing cold night on an awful pitch, at least the annual loss at Fleetwood is now out of the way! We're now due 6 wins on the bounce following the pattern from the last 11 games!

@JMickAndrews: We beat two better sides by taking chances and defending all over the pitch. Tonight we lost to a limited side by wasting opportunities, particularly at corners, and through careless play. A self inflicted defeat.

@doncasterman: Result been coming last few games results have papered over the cracks

@SincerelyMe0101: Are we not due an off day? It was Fleetwood, who are very much our bogey team. We didn't deserve anything from the game but let's keep things in perspective! We're still in a great position. On to Sunderland.

@jr_drfc: It was very poor tonight, missed Anderson massively, if we’d have got that free kick in just before the break I think we’d have been talking about a comfortable win but oh well, still in a healthy position with plenty of big games coming thick and fast. Need to regroup for theSOL

@daniel_nice7: Although we scored early we struggled from the first whistle. Losing Anderson was a blow we didn’t seem to recover from. Got to keep perspective - lost 2 captains in a few weeks. We didn’t play well and deserved to lose. We move on
