Rovers League: Askern Miners clinch Premier Division title
The Askern club dropped out of the Central Midlands League last year and hit the reset button in an attempt to restore their former glories.
A Chris Hancock penalty and Michael Attard goal sealed a 2-0 win at title rivals Rossington Main Reserves and saw Askern crowned champions with two games to spare.
Afterwards the club tweeted: “We are just getting started.”

Hide AdTen days ago Maltby Juniors looked certainties for the Division One title and were on course to finish the season with a 100 per cent winning record.
However, two successive defeats, including a 1-0 reverse to rivals St Josephs Worksop, means the title race could still have a twist.
Maltby have now finished their league campaign and can only sit and watch as St Josephs play out their season.
The Worksop side have won ten games on the bounce and should they win their remaining nine fixtures the title would be decided on goal difference.
