Doncaster Rovers went into tonight’s game at Birmingham City on the back of a morale-boosting victory over high-flying QPR and they hit back with a wonder goal from sub David Clotterill to gain a point.

Full back Paul Quinn, who hit the winner for Rovers against QPR, wants the side to demonstrate they can repeat that level of performance, week in, week out.

He said: “We are on our game most when the better sides come here. We’re more comfortable but we need to change that.”

Rovers’ last win at Birmingham was back in 1954. They have lost on their previous five visits to the Blues.

Coppinger fired over from the edge of the area in the 12th minute as Rovers sought to strike first.

But they were on the back foot when, on 29 minutes, Novak fired Birmihgham in front from the right hand side.

Three minutes later Duffy was denied an equaliser when his shot produced a brilliant save from Randolph,

But Birmingham ended the first half in control and came close to adding to their one-goal lead.

Four minutes from half-tme Novak fired over from the edge of the box.

Birmingham began the second half still in control but Rovers came close to equalising when Robinson played in Macheda but the Italian was denied by Randolph.

This seemed to act as a spur for Rovers who, with time running out, looked the more likely to score and they did with substitutue Cotterrill, who had come on just under the hour for Coppinger, making it 1-1 with a great goal.

He took possession out on the left and from long range cracked in a tremendous right-footer into the far corner.
