Rossington Main lift Doncaster Rovers Senior League Challenge Cup


Rossington Main lifted the Doncaster Rovers Senior League’s Challenge Cup at The Avenue on Saturday.

They beat South Elmsall United Services, who led 1-0 at the break, 3-1 after extra-time.

James Bytheway, Andrew Culshaw and Lee Holmes were on the scoresheet for Main.

Rum Rooms Legacy romped to a 12-3 Premier Division win at Hemsworth Elite.

Jason Barker, Joshua Crossland and Carl Wilson all netted for the home side who trailed 5-1 at the break.

Markham Main, who finished third after topping the table for long periods of the season, signed off with a 10-0 win over second-bottom Doncaster Deaf Trust.

Nathan Booth, Daniel McNeil and sub Williams all bagged a brace for the home side.

Main’s challenge for the runners-up spot behind newly-crowned champions Sutton Rovers was ended in midweek when they had to settle for a consolation by Gary Williams in a 3-1 defeat at Rum Rooms Legacy and Dunscroft United received a walkover at Hemsworth Elite.

A Lance Walsh brace and a single strike by Mark Lynch secured South Elmsall United Services a 3-2 win at Doncaster Deaf Trust two days before taking on Rossington.
