Former Rovers loanee NIall Ennis was on target for Plymouth who then wasted several chances to claim a share of the spoils.

Rovers made it two wins from two under Andy Butler with this 2-1 triumph over Plymouth Argyle - but they were made to work for it.

Goals early in each half from Tom Anderson and Omar Bogle looked to have put Rovers in command but former loanee Niall Ennis pulled a goal back.

It buoyed the visitors who were somewhat unfortunate not to at least equalise during a strong period but Rovers held on.

FOUR minutes

88min Another one who should have put the game to bed

Madger Gomes is put in clear and looks set to slot home only for Will Aimson to produce a brilliant sliding block to deny him.

86min Double switch for Rovers

Madger Gomes and Cameron John replace Taylor Richards and Matt Smith

Reece James has pushed into midfield with John going in at left back.

85min Should be all over

Taylor Richards is released clear but he drags his shot wide from the edge of the box.

Byron Moore and Ryan Hardie replace Luke Jephcott and Joe Edwards

76min Another huge chance from Plymouth

Adam Lewis curls in a fine cross for Plymouth which Niall Ennis meets at the back post and heads over. He should at the very least put the ball on target.

Omar Bogle hooks a shot from 15 yards which drifts just wide

Jason Lokilo replaces James Coppinger for Rovers

And it’s a triple change for Plymouth with Panutche Camara, Lewis McLeod and Adam Lewis on for Conor Grant, Tyrese Fornah and Ben Reeves.

Kelland Watts drills a low shot wide from 15 yards. Plymouth continue to have the better of it.

Louis Jones races out and blocks with his legs as Luke Jephcott looks to strike after breaking clear. It was a nervy moment.

62min What a goal that would have been

Some absolutely stunning build-up play from Rovers, started by Matt Smith’s surging run through the middle. He exchanged passes with James Coppinger before sliding across the box to Taylor Richards. By the time the Brighton loanee got the ball onto his left foot, he was blocked out by a crowd of Plymouth players.
