Two first half goals from Ben Whiteman proved enough for Doncaster Rovers to move into the third round of the FA Cup despite spirited fight back from Carlisle United.
The hosts proved much more threatening in the second half and put Rovers on the back foot, particularly when Jon Mellish pulled a goal back.
But Rovers held on to book their place in the next round.
