And victory in the fourth round - the draw for which will take place on Monday evening - will almost double their prize pot with another £90,000 up for grabs.

Their 1-0 triumph at Blackburn Rovers in Saturday’s third round saw them add £61,500 to the £42,472 they had pocketed following wins over FC United of Manchester and Carlisle United.

Should they lose their fourth round tie, they will not earn any additional prize money with rewards for beaten teams ending at the third round.

The prize pot will provide a boost for Rovers during a time when financial pressures on the club are great due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on revenues.

However, early elimination from both the Carabao Cup and the Papa John’s Trophy will need to be offset in the budget for the season.

The pandemic has also impacted on FA Cup prize money.

Rovers would have earned more than double the prize money by reaching the fourth round in last season’s competition.

Prize money for a run to the fourth round last year was £225,000.

Winning the competition this season would earn £3,433,972 in prize money - down from £6.8m last term.

The draw for the fourth round will take place on Monday evening, with Rovers ball number 16.
