Phoenix rise to summit | Thornensians run out big winners

Ryan Peacey opened the scoring for Phoenix after four minutes before Dan Parker added a second minutes later.

Tom Bagnall increased the lead on 15 minutes and Wallace went over for his first before half time.

Second half tries from Tom Batty, Alex Keeton, Sam Eyre and another from Wallace completed the route with Dan Porter bolstering Phoenix’s tally with three conversions.

Wheatley Hills remain near the foot of North One East after a 26-17 defeat at Dinnington.

A first half try from Sam Kerry converted by Declan Cook gave the away side early hope before Ryan Creswell added another before the half time break.

Mattie Shaw went over for a second half try which Cook failed to convert as Dinnington continued their strong start to the season.

Wath on Dearne went close to toppling Yorkshire Two leaders West Leeds when they scored the only two tries of the match but were held to a 12-12 draw at Moor Road.

Joe Bartlett and Joe Earp got the touchdowns, with Adam West converting one.

But Leeds, after turning round 9-7 ahead, salvaged the draw with a fourth penalty goal by Dale Breakwell.

Thornensians were the top scoring side in Yorkshire Three when they toppled visitors Bramley Phoenix 73-12 at Coulman Road.

Thorne ran in a total of 11 tries including four from Brett Hunt. Adam Smith and Ollie Cox scored two each, and there were other touchdowns from Evan Johnson and Rob Brown. Brown kicked nine conversions.
