A Luca Nelson brace plus an Owan Derrett strike helped secure a 3-2 win over Hull City at the KCOM Stadium to set up an away tie against either Altrincham or Peterborough United, who meet on Friday.

Derrett put Rovers ahead inside the first five minutes only for Hull to equalise just three minutes later courtesy of Will Jarvis.

The hosts went ahead before half time through Josh Hinds but Rovers responded well after the break, with Nelson netting a looping header from a Lewis Cunningham free kick just two minutes into the second period.

Nelson put Rovers ahead just after the hour mark after reacting quickest when the Hull keeper parried Derrett’s cross.

It looked as though Hull were set to draw level when they were awarded a penalty ten minutes from time but Bottomley made the save from Oliver Green.
