United are on a superb run of form, having won their last nine matches in all competitions, while Rovers have won eight of their last nine in League One.

“We know it’s going to be a very well-coached game, with clever players who look like they’ve played higher,” he said.

“At different levels, the randomness of the game sometimes makes it hard to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses.

“But these are two teams who have an identity, which Doncaster have had for a number of years.

“Everyone talks about us having that type of style too - Oxford have got an identity in the football world and that’s nice to hear.

“They got some good results early on and obviously their recent form has been outstanding.

“They are coached extremely well, they have good players and we know we are going to have to be at our best.

“But we are in such good form ourselves right now.

“I actually don’t think we have been at our best in the last two or three league games. We got a little bit lucky at Rochdale and then had to grind out a result against Fleetwood last Saturday.

“But we found a way to win both games and that’s all you can ask really.

Oxford’s deadline day signings Joe Grayson, Elliot Lee and Brandon Barker will all be involved on Saturday.
