The centre half frustratedly watched on for a month as suspension ruled him out with Rovers searching for a much needed victory.

Having seen the frustrations of Rovers’ battle for a way back into form from on and off the pitch, Anderson is keen to see the fight end soon - preferably on Boxing Day at Peterborough United.

“It’s all I want for Christmas,” the 26-year-old said.

“I’m happy to be back and hopefully now I can get a good run going again, get that win and a few more after that and climb the league.”

Anderson admits he has not been the most patient of people as he waited for his the of his suspension which he earned with a red card in the defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.

“It’s my own fault for getting sent off,” he said.

“It has seemed like it’s gone on forever over the last month.

“It wasn’t nice.

“Sometimes it makes you realise how lucky you are, playing week in, week out. Having to sit there and watch is not easy.”

The Burnley born centre half came straight back into the side on his return, continuing his run of starting every league game when available this season.

But he insists he will not take his position for granted, particularly with boss Darren Moore having plenty of strong options for the centre back positions with Joe Wright, Donervon Daniels, Cameron John and Shane Blaney all available together for the first time this season.

“All of them are good players,” Anderson said.

“When you get your chance you’ve got to take it.

“You can’t take any games for granted, You’ve got to give it your all and your best and do what you’ve been working on all week.”
