Hopes are high that Steve Brennan’s first full season in charge at Rossington Main could see the Division One club challenge for a top six spot.

Main have made great strides under the former Scarborough reserve team manager since he took over at Oxford Street towards the back end of 2013.

Rossington have enjoyed a good pre-season, winning four and drawing one of their seven warm-up games.

Brennan has added defender Ryan Thompson from Retford United and former Main player Michael MacDonald on his return from a three-year spell in Australia.

Defender Josh Bathgate makes the step up from the reserve side, while midfielder Dan Marquis, forwards Jack Farrar and Dec Handley, along with defender Jordan Woodhall, are all hoping to step up from the U16s after featuring in pre-season.

Jason Stokes and Mark Rudd have left to join Matlock Town and Hall Road Rangers respectively.

Rudd is expected to be in the Rangers squad that face Rossington at Oxford Street in their season opener on Saturday.
