Midfielder Emily Simpkins is relishing Doncaster Rovers Belles' Bank Holiday Monday trip to FAWSL1 leaders Manchester City.
City lead the way with four wins from four and are yet to concede a goal, while Belles prop up the division following defeats to Chelsea and Birmingham.
However, Simpkins is excited at the prospect of facing the Blues.
“As a player you cherish playing these types of teams on a great pitch,” said Simpkins.
“You know it’s going to be hard work, but that’s what it’s all about.
“Coming up from the league below, we’ve proved that we’re good enough to compete.
She added: “We’re really fortunate this year too because we’ve benefited from bringing in a sports scientist, Stacey Emmonds.
“She’s been brilliant this year managing our workloads and fitness levels and that’ll be huge for us after a short turnaround between games. She’s got everyone as fit as a fiddle.”
City came out on top both times the teams met last term, winning 3-1 and 3-0 in the SSE Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres Cup respectively.
