Doncaster Rovers Belles hope to throw the form book out of the window when they face unbeaten FAWSL1 leaders Manchester City tonight (7.45pm).

The Belles are still waiting to pick up their first league point but no panic buttons are being pressed yet.

The quirks of the fixture schedule mean that they have played five games fewer than second-from-bottom Sunderland, and boss Emma Coates is not counting out a surprise result at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“We take it week by week, game by game,” she said.

“I’d like to think people are starting to see some improvements in our game and that our performances are getting stronger.

“Teams will underestimate us because of the results we’re having and it will be the same against Manchester City, we have to get the results, we have to start scoring and we have to stop conceding.

“Against City we have to try and get those results, we’re going in the right direction but we’ve just got to get there quicker.”
