Gordon Staniforth is keen for his high-flying side to get back on the field and make it a sixth successive win.

The Belles recently crammed in three games in the space of eight days, which all ended in victories, before an 11-day break in their FAWSL fixtures programme.

That break comes to an end tonight when they get set to host fellow league promotion favourites Sunderland in the Continental Cup.

The Belles currently top both their league and cup groups and are going into this evening’s Black Cats clash on the back of a five-game winning run.

“We’ll be looking to carry on our fantastic form. We don’t want to get carried away with the position we’re in, we just want to keep that momentum going,” said Staniforth.

“Sunderland will be a very good test. They’re one of the favourites to do well this year and they’re league and cup champions so they’ve got a good winning habit about them.

“We’ve done our homework and had them scouted. We’re just ready to get going again.”

A few days later, the Belles get back to league action when they welcome Watford Ladies to the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday (2pm).

“They’re another strong side who we’ve looked into. We’re not going to be complacent, I want us to keep doing the right things we have been and keep winning.”

Staniforth added that first team players Jess Sigsworth and Lyndsey Cunningham have shook off niggling injuries for tonight’s clash.

TONIGHT: Belles v Sunderland, Continental Cup, 7.45pm.
