A new goalkeeper remains a top priority for Gordon Staniforth as he bids to get his squad ready for the forthcoming WSL2 campaign.
Doncaster Rovers Belles have added youngsters Hope Knight, a winger from Notts County, and York-based midfielder Sophie Stamp to their ranks as they continue to tie up existing contracts for several first team players - including Sue Smith and Leandra Little.
Behind the scenes, Staniforth is continuing his search for a goalkeeper following the departure of Welsh international Nicky Davies who joined fellow WSL2 rivals Reading this month.
Shot-stoppers Emma Higgins and Nicola Hobbs are still on the Belles’ books.
“We’re still looking to bring a new goalkeeper in, but at the moment, nothing to tell you [with regards to player contracts],” said Staniforth who had offered a trial to former England and Everton ‘keeper Dani Hill.
Staniforth watched on as his first competitive match in charge of the Belles resulted in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the FA Women’s Cup third round on Sunday.
The Belles face Copsewood Coventry in the next round on March 16 - see Staniforth’s reaction to the draw in this week’s Free Press.
The full WSL fixtures list will be aired live on BT Sport on Thursday from 7pm.
