Thorne Colliery lifted the Goole & Thorne FA Cup with a 3-1 win over Dunscroft United.
Scott Rhodes, Ross Ebbage and Callum Tiffany shared the goals for the Central Midlands League Northern Division side against their Doncaster Senior League opponents.
Harworth Colliery, whose hopes of joining the Doncaster side in the final of the CML League Cup had been dashed earlier in the week, held on to third spot in the table after holding Tony Stroud’s men to a 1-1 draw in their Easter Monday derby clash at Moorends Welfare.
But with Thorne, who were back in action at Brodsworth last night, being only one point behind with five games in hand, they remain overwhelming favourites to claim third spot behind newly-crowned champions AFC Mansfield and runners-up Westella Hanson.
The North Nottinghamshire club made sure of the title on Saturday when romping to a 5-0 win over Harworth.
The game was effectively over as a contest in the first half-hour as Mansfield raced into a 3-0 lead.
Brodsworth Welfare condemned Askern to a bottom-two finish after inflicting a 3-2 derby defeat on Monday.
With Easington United claiming a third successive win over the Easter programme, Askern cannot now overhaul the third-bottom club, which is currently Thoresby, no matter what the result of their remaining match.
