Steve Lodge has resigned as Rossington Main boss following his side’s second heavy defeat in the space of four days.

Main crashed out of the NCEL League Cup last night as they were humbled 6-0 at home to Knaresborough Town.

Rossington, 18th in Division One, also suffered a 6-1 league defeat at Hall Road Rangers on Saturday.

A statement issued by the club said: “It is with deep regret that Rossington Main FC announce the resignation of first team manager Steve Lodge.

“Chairman Carl Stokes accepted Steve’s decision with a heavy heart, adding Steve has done a fantastic job for our club but we fully understand Steve’s decision and respect that.

“The committee would like to thank Steve for all the hard work and commitment that he has put in during the last three and a half seasons, a “true pleasure”.

“Steve will remain on the club’s committee with the best wishes from all at the football club.”

Main travel to Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday.
