MEXBOROUGH Rovers held onto top spot in Division One after being held to a 1-1 draw in a hard fought clash with Hyde Park Knights.
The meeting of the division’s top two sides failed to disappoint and a share of the spoils proved deserved with Rovers failing to win for the first time this season.
The Knights started the contest the better and almost went in front when Jada Letman White met a superb cross from Jamie Kilkenny but fired over the bar.
Rovers eventually found their way into the game and took the lead.
A hopeful ball over the top was misjudged by Knights keeper Joseph Ashby and Dylan Elliott sneaked in to tap home.
The second half started in much the same manner as the first with Hyde Park the stronger side.
But this time they made their chances count when Conner Bryan’s high ball was headed out to the edge of the area where Luke Hutchinson trapped and then rifled a shot into the bottom corner.
The two sides exchanged chances in a tense finale and it was the Knights who came closest to stealing the win.
A long free kick from Ashby bounced over the head of his opposite number James Pearson but was cleared off the line by a covering defender.
