Latest on Doncaster Rovers' quest to for new signings

Boss Darren Moore has spoken of his determination to add to the numbers in his squad during this final week of the transfer window.

Rovers have been working on a deal for a free agent midfielder, and it is understood that player trained with the senior squad over the last week, with that deal set to be completed imminently.

The other position Rovers are looking to recruit in is striker, with the club working on two leading options over the weekend in order to sign one of them early this week.

Both players are currently attached to other clubs and, should either join Rovers, they would arrive on a permanent deal.

It is understood that both are keen to join Rovers but were looking to reach an agreement with their current employers over the weekend in order to secure their release.

Moore hopes to secure three deals in the coming days, with the future of Josh Sims set to determine the final part of that trio.

Rovers have been encouraged with the situation surrounding the Southampton winger and the possibility of securing a loan deal until the end of the season.

Sims is currently recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered in December during his initial loan at the Keepmoat.

At the time it appeared the 24-year-old had played his last game for Rovers with Southampton keen to cash in on a player who will reach the end of his contract in the summer.

But the Saints are said to have softened on the idea of another loan for the winger, with Sims himself open to the idea of a return to Rovers, having enjoyed an excellent spell before Christmas.

For any new additions to the Rovers squad to be eligible to feature in Tuesday night’s visit of AFC Wimbledon to the Keepmoat, they would need to be registered by noon on Monday.

Meanwhile, Moore was hopeful Jason Lokilo will be available to face the Dons after suffering a blow to the face in Saturday’s defeat to West Ham United.
