Doncaster Rovers are not actively pursuing a loan deal for versatile Leeds United youngster Robbie Gotts, the Free Press understands.

Reports elsewhere have suggested that Rovers have joined the race for the 20-year-old, who can also play at right back.

Gotts is a player who has been on Rovers’ radar in recent weeks as Darren Moore looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday.

But it is understood that financial matters have seen Rovers rule out the Harrogate-born player - who has made three senior appearances for the Whites - as a target this week.

Gotts – who is highly rated by Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa – is proving to be a player in demand with the likes of Huddersfield Town and Hull City also linked with efforts to sign him on loan.

Rovers will press on with their bid to add a midfielder before Friday and have identified a primary target they are confident of securing on loan.
