Moore secured the signing of midfielder John Bostock on Monday and spoke of a confidence that he can add further options ahead of the weekend.

“We’re working extremely hard,” he said.

“We’re further forward with one or two targets and hopefully by the weekend we can see one or two more additions to the squad.”

The Free Press understands the club’s quest to add a striker before the closing of the transfer window on Monday has hit a series of snags but the original primary targets for the position remain active options.

There is however understood to be a growing optimism that Rovers can secure a return for Josh Sims on loan for Southampton for the remainder of the season.

Reports elsewhere have suggested an agreement has been reached for the 23-year-old to head back to the Keepmoat following his recovery from a hamstring injury but Rovers have declined to confirm.

Beyond deals for a striker and potentially Sims, Moore would be required to move a player out of the club in order to bring another one in.

At this stage there are no agreements for any players to leave Rovers on any basis but Moore will assess his options should a potential signing arise that would be attractive to the manager.

The Rovers boss has made no secret of his desire to add depth to his squad this month.
