'It's about the players learning from it' - Darren Moore wants Doncaster Rovers to make lessons from defeat count

Darren Moore is confident his young Doncaster Rovers side will have learned plenty from their defeat to Crewe Alexandra.

And he is hopeful part of that learning will see their concentration sharpen.

Moore was largely pleased with Saturday’s performance from his team, despite their 2-1 loss.

But he feels his players needed to be more sharp in key moments, and must take that lesson forward, starting on Tuesday night at Plymouth Argyle.

“My message is clear, in terms of me learning as a manager about the type of game and about my players,” he told the Free Press.

“But it’s also about the players learning as well from the level of game and type of game it was.

“It’s about going that little bit extra that you need to rubberstamp those three points.

“Me knowing the players and where they’re at, I’ve got no problem with them and I think they’ve been brilliant, but there’s that final bit of concentration or whatever it was, that was just eluding them.

“Everything else, I was happy with. They put everything into it, their work rate and effort.

“But it was that little bit that we pride ourselves on.

“You learn about the league even more from it.

“Take nothing away from Crewe. But their winning goal, it wasn’t so much about the free kick because it was always a dangerous position and the boy is a danger from it. It was more about what led to the free kick that was disappointing.”
