The Rovers boss is an asthma sufferer, putting him at risk of severe and life-threatening symptoms should he contract coronavirus.

And he has urged to heed the advice of medical professionals in order to reduce the pace of the spread of the virus and help to protect those like him who are vulnerable.

“I’m living proof that asthma, when managed correctly, is no barrier to an active and healthy life and many top athletes take medication for it - but now we are more vulnerable,” Moore told the official Rovers website.

“This is a pandemic of a respiratory virus, which means if those of us with asthma contract it - and we know many will - it’ll hit us harder and we are more at risk of serious complications.

“Many of us will know people with conditions like asthma or diabetes, and it is these people we need to protect at this time.

“We know the most important thing people can do to flatten the curve and help the wonderful people of the NHS is not going out unless they need to - so please don’t go out unless you absolutely have to, and when you do make sure you keep a safe distance apart for everyone’s safety.

“Social distancing is really important for everyone, even if you feel fit and healthy as normal.”

Moore has also urged supporters not to worry about football for the time being and concentrate on the safety of themselves and their families.

Competition is on hold until at least April 30 with Rovers taking advice to suspend training for the rest of March,

Football isn’t important right now,” Moore said.

“We know supporters will be looking forward to getting back, as we all are, but really all that matters is making sure you and your loved ones, and your communities, are safe.

“We’ll be here when this is over.

“Let us take care of that, and please follow NHS advice on the best course of action.”
