Taylor has missed the last two matches for Rovers due to a muscle strain and has not progressed sufficiently to be given a clean bill of health.

Boss Darren Moore says the explosive style of the winger’s play is the main reason why he is currently reluctant to risk him in matches - particularly given the number of games coming up over the next few weeks.

“Jon is the one that’s a bit of a concern for us at the moment,” Moore said.

“It’s nothing too outstanding or that we’re thinking it’s anything too serious, it’s just the volume of games.

“Tayls is a player that is about energy, energy, energy. That is him.

“Even if he’s in the canteen and he’s getting a cup of tea it’s a sprint for him.“Because of that, we have to think about it going forward with him and with the games coming thick and fast.

“I’ll be governed by the medical team in terms of his availability for the weekend.”

Madger Gomes is back in full training with the group but Moore expects him to be available in a week.

He said: “He’s probably another week away. He’s out with the group and getting the volume but it’ll be another week.”

Tyreece John-Jules this week returned to training with the Rovers squad after completing the initial stages of his recovery from a thigh strain with his parent club Arsenal.

And Moore says it is now about getting the requisite training into the striker before he is available for action.

He said: “It’s great to have Tyreece back and what he’s doing now is getting the volume of training.

“He’s back on the training ground with us now and it’s about us getting volume into him. If he has no reaction to it, we’ll have a look at him.

“Him being here, both him and the sports science team can report on a daily basis how he’s doing with the workload that we’re putting him through.

“The mere fact he’s back in the building and on the training ground, it should be sooner rather than later with him.”
