John joined Rovers from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer on a season-long loan.

And he admits he would highly recommend Rovers to any promising youngster as a destination for a loan spell.

“I would say if you could come here, do - 100 per cent,” John told the Free Press.

“It’s not just the playing style and what we do on the pitch, it’s off the pitch as well at the club.

“Everyone around the club has been very welcoming and made me settle in like I’ve been here for a few years.

“That’s what you want from a club and as a loan player you want to feel that you’ve been part of a team and part of the club.

“That’s something I can’t thank the club enough for, for welcoming me.”

John believes his six months at Rovers so far have already helped him mature as a player and a person.

And he is confident he will always look back fondly on his time at the Keepmoat.

“In the main, it’s been good,” John said.

“I think it’s been good for myself personally and on the pitch.

“I think I’ve grown as a person, I’ve grown up a bit and I’m a lot more mature now.

“On the pitch I’ve learned a lot about what I can do and what I can handle.

“It’s just belief and confidence that I can play and I’m sure I’ll take it wherever I end up.

The 20-year-old has been handed the opportunity to showcase his versatility with outings at left back.

And he is likely to get more chances over the next few weeks with Reece James sidelined - something he is only too happy to experience.

“I’m here to learn and get a new experience,” he said. “Whether I play left back or centre back here, I’m learning every day.

“Hopefully in my future it will benefit me even more playing left back here and give me a different dimension in my game.”
