There was nevertheless plenty to pick over throughout the season. Here is how we rated the individual performances of the squad over the season. Only those with five or more senior appearances are included. Let us know what you think about our ratings.
1. SENY DIENG 8.5
The goalkeeper will be remembered as one of the very best loanees that Rovers have ever had. Dieng’s handling was superb, his aerial ability was phenomenal, as was his ability to produce a game saving stop in the dying minutes after having very little to do previously. And then there was his quality with the ball at his feet, showing very much that he is a converted midfielder. There may have been a few nervy moments for those watching on but this supremely confident keeper majorly influenced the style of play over an excellent personal season. 2. IAN LAWLOR 6
He started the season as Rovers’ number one for the opening seven matches but lost his place to Dieng following a costly mistake late in the defeat to Blackpool. The form of Dieng ensured he never really had the chance to redeem himself, other than in the Leasing.com Trophy. It seemed to knock his confidence somewhat and he struggled for commanding performances. Lawlor ended the season on loan at Scunthorpe United, whom he joined in January. Photo: JPIMedia
3. BRAD HALLIDAY 7.5
It was a strong first season for Rovers for the right back. Though he started a little shakily, he became one of the most important components of how Moore wanted to play. Powerful runs out from the back, particularly overlapping the wide forward ahead of him, gave Rovers a strong attacking dimension. While there were mistakes defensively over the season, he was involved in a tremendous amount and more often than not came out on top. Photo: Gareth Williams/AHPIX LTDJPIMedi
4. JOE WRIGHT 8.5
It looked set to be another frustrating season for the young centre half after he was injured in the final friendly of last summer. But, after making his return as a regular starter in early December, Wright never looked back and once more showed the tremendous potential he has. His partnership with Anderson was superb as they became Rovers’ twin towers in the heart of defence. Confident and commanding, he also looked increasingly comfortable on the ball. The hope now is for him to have better luck with injuries and cement himself as one of the division’s very best. Photo: Gareth Williams/AHPIX LTDJPIMedi
