But how have the squad performed on an individual basis so far? Here, we have rated each player based on the first 23 league matches of the campaign. Only those with five or more appearances this term are included.
1. Danny Amos 6.5
Amos would likely have received more game time but for international duty and injuries. Many of his outings have seen him fill in other positions, including right back and midfield and he has never disgraced himself. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
2. Tom Anderson 9
What more is there to say about the Rovers skipper that hasn’t been said before? A brick wall, a tower of strength, a ‘you shall not pass’ attitude that would make Gandalf look weak. Anderson has undoubtedly been Rovers most consistent performer this season, heading away everything and throwing his body in front of anything. He has also developed his ability on the ball too. He has enjoyed a tremendous season where he has cemented his status as one of the top performers in the division. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
3. Ellery Balcombe 7.5
The on loan Brentford goalkeeper has made an incredible impact since joining in early January. Balcombe has looked commanding and has produced some excellent saves - most notably his two penalty stops against Lincoln. His distribution continues to need work but he has made a big difference. 4. Andy Butler 8
It is not too long ago that Butler was not even a bit-part player for Rovers on matchdays. Now he is one of the most important players in the side. Itching for a chance in the side, the veteran never looked back after making his re-debut in November. It may have been 18 months between appearances for Rovers, but he looked like he had not missed a beat. Butler has formed a tremendous partnership with Tom Anderson as he has turned back the clock with commanding, brave and composed performances. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
