Harworth Colliery run Sheffield Wednesday close in Vitality Women's FA Cup

Harworth Colliery Ladies gave Sheffield Wednesday Ladies an almighty scare before bowing out of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup with their heads held high.

Harworth play two levels below the Owls and could take enormous pride from a last gasp 3-2 preliminary round defeat at SHU Sports Park on Sunday.

Wednesday had led 2-0 after an hour but goals from Georgia Walker-Ellis and Dani Thompson got Harworth on level terms.

The visitors then pressed strongly for a winner – only to succumb to a late Jess Morrison goal at the other end.

Harworth play in tier seven of the women’s game, Division One of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women’s League.

Sheffield Wednesday are in tier five, the North East Regional Women’s League.
