A BOYHOOD BHOY

Robertson has been with Celtic since he was seven and progressed through the club’s academy before signing professional terms in 2019. Last year he signed a deal tying him to the club until the summer of 2023.

NEAT AND TIDY

The 19-year-old has mainly been used as a defensive midfielder and he is known for his neat and tidy use of the ball in the middle of the park.

HE HAS EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE

The midfielder made his senior debut for Celtic in the Europa League clash with Romanian side Cluj in December 2019, when he played the full 90 minutes. His other experience for the club has come in the Challenge Cup, effectively as part of a Celtic reserve side, in which he has made three appearances, scoring one goal.

LEAGUE ONE OUTING

Robertson joined Gillingham on a season-long loan last September. He made 19 appearances - 14 of which were starts - for Steve Evans’ side before being recalled by Celtic in January when they were in the midst of an injury crisis. He was then part of Celtic’s controversial training camp in Dubai.

WHAT THEY SAID

Gillingham boss Steve Evans: “I cannot give any bigger testament to a in Scott Robertson than to say he will play in the Celtic first team next season. Scott has gained great experience in League One. It’s a tough division and after a bit of time adjusting he grew in confidence. He has impressed us all.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon: “He’s a very good young professional and a good roaming footballer. He’s a player we want to develop and we think he has great potential going forward.”
