It is understood that Moore will not be restricted by financial matters as he reaches his decision, with the Rovers board ready to back his decision.

It had been expected that Josef Bursik would spend the entire season at the Keepmoat only for the England U21 international to be recalled by parent club Stoke City last month.

The club acted quickly to sign Joe Lumley on an emergency loan deal from Queens Park Rangers, with the rolling one-week agreement set to see them through until January.

But Rovers will be required to secure a longer term option next month, with Moore set to inform the club’s owners of his plans next week. The status of Academy graduate Louis Jones in Moore’s mind will be the major influence on the measures the manager takes in January.

It is acknowledged that Thorne-born Jones is likely to be positioned as Rovers’ number one next season having greatly impressed in his development over the last few years.

But it is whether Moore believes the 21-year-old is ready for the demands of that roll right now which will determine how Rovers will act next month.

Should Moore opt to exercise caution with Jones, Rovers are likely to make a loan signing for the remainder of the season who will start the majority of games.

But should Jones be backed to take the number one position immediately, it is likely the club will be required to bring in a back-up option on a permanent contract. Clubs looking to loan out goalkeepers will expect them to play rather than be used as cover.

The intricacies of the emergency loan system somewhat forced Rovers’ hand when looking to cover the loss of Bursik last month.

Had Jones played one more senior game for the club, they would have been unable to bring in another goalkeeper by that method.

In opting to sign Lumley, they have been obligated to start him in every match due to the terms of an emergency loan.
