And he has been joined among the nods by midfielder Madger Gomes who has been nominated in the players’ category.

Rovers made an impressive start to the season in League One with two wins and a draw in September.

The reasoning for Moore’s nomination read: “For a man who spent his playing career as a rugged central defender, Moore the manager enjoys placing emphasis on attacking flair.

“His Rovers team took him at his word, scoring eight goals to pick up seven points from a possible nine.”

Moore is up against former Rovers boss Grant McCann for the award, along with Ipswich Town’s Paul Lambert and Lincoln City’s Michael Appleton.

Like Lambert and Appleton, Hull boss McCann guided his side to maximum points during September.

Gomes scored in all three league matches as part of his excellent start to the campaign in scoring terms.

His description read: “The elegant Spaniard strode through opposing defences carrying the ball forward at will in September and scoring a goal in every game.

“His goals were easy on the eye, too – a left-footed curler, a long-range effort and a stinging strike.”

Competition for the award for Gomes will come from Hull City midfielder George Honeyman, AFC Wimbledon striker Joe Pigott and Lincoln City goalkeeper Alex Palmer, who is on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

The winners of both the manager and player awards will be announced on Friday.
