The forward last week joined the National League’s bottom side Chorley on loan for a month after completing his recovery from an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has struggled for game time with Rovers over what has been a frustrating three year spell that has delivered only 20 senior appearances and one goal.

But Moore says Kiwomya has a chance to resurrect his career at the club if he delivers while with that Lancashire side over the next few weeks.

“It has been a real frustrating time for him here but the door is not closed on him,” he said.

“He’s fully fit now and he just needs those games.

“I think it would be unfair of us to keep Alex here. U23s football is not for Alex Kiwomya, it’s first team football.

“We’re grateful for the loan he’s got, he understands why he’s there.

I really do hope he gives them a level because he has all the attributes to be a real danger in that league and he has all the attributes to be a danger here.

“We’ll monitor him over the next month and see how he gets on.”

Kiwomya was given a reprieve by Moore after being transfer-listed by previous boss Grant McCann and was involved in most matchday squads for the first two months of the season.

Moore says the forward has the ability to make an impact at League One level and now needs to prove his fitness in order to be given the chance.

“Ultimately for Alex, he’s got wonderful attributes that we look for in a player - certainly at the top end of the pitch,” Moore said.

“That is why he’s gone there really, to get some time.

“Really for Alex it’s getting those match minutes in and that strength you only get from games, that confidence you only get from games, specific movements, reacting to the ball.

“He’s going to get those and we’ll monitor him and see where he’s at.”
