There’s a pop star on the pitch...
Just days after the dramatic collapse of his bid to buy Doncaster Rovers, Louis Tomlinson took to the pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium for a kickabout with some friends.
Anyone lingering in the stands for half an hour or so after Rovers’ friendly with South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday would have been treated to a footballing encore with a difference.
After visiting the Rovers players in the dressing room following the game, Tomlinson – seen in a white t-shirt and shorts – and his two friends emerged from the tunnel with a ball and had some shooting practice in the empty stadium.
From the comfort of a corporate box, the Bessacarr-born star watched Rovers come back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Wednesday before enjoying some time on the pitch himself.
It was a day when Tomlinson returned to life as a Rovers fan following the failure of his and John Ryan’s attempt to take ownership of the club – although not many supporters will ever enjoy such a privilege as taking to the hallowed turf for a kickabout.
