ROVERS boss Dean Saunders has expressed his frustration over the struggle to receive international clearance for his trio of new signings.
Saunders hoped to be able to call on Damien Plessis, Habib Bamogo and Mamadou Bagayoko for the visit of Barnsley on Monday.
But the Football Association and its Greek counterpart are said to be running on a small staff force over the festive period which has caused a delay in the completion of the paperwork.
Saunders said: “It’s really frustrating because the transfer window opens on Sunday and there’s nobody at the FA, everyone’s on a bank holiday.
“We’ve got these players in and the might not be available for two weeks.
“All the stuff is in place and we understand it takes time but it’s frustrating because you’d like to have them ready to play on January 1.
“We work over Christmas and it’s a really important time heading into January.
“Maybe they should make the window January 5 to February 5 if they’re not going to be about.”
Saunders also confirmed that El Hadji Diouf has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the club, while an extension has also been lined up for defender Pascal Chimbonda.
